SIG Mission Statement:
To promote understanding and use of advanced curricular designs and educational technologies across the osteopathic profession
Within the above mission, what specific objectives can best be accomplished by collaborative efforts:
- Each osteopathic school to develop, refine and evaluate one problem-specific module per year.
- To create over the next 5 – 7 years 100 – 150 problem specific modules
- To gather data regarding the educational utility of these problem-specific modules.
- To construct manuscripts describing the educational outcomes associated with these modules.
- To garnish international recognition for the osteopathic profession by demonstrating the unique strengths and advantages of a Problem- Specific/ Structured Knowledge Curriculum predicated upon the use of 100 – 150 problem-specific modules
- To demonstrate improved patient care outcomes stemming from PS/SKC and its associated educational technologies
Specific Goals to be Accomplished:
- Funding sufficient to launch and sustain a five year national initiative involving the development and initial pilot testing of 5 – 10 problem-specific modules across participating schools.
Initial action steps to be taken:
- Request for interested individuals to indicate their support for this collaborative via their active participation in the initiative.
- Request for interested individuals to indicate their support for the project via communications with AACOM
- AACOM to aggressively seek funding support to launch this initiative
