The 2008 election certainly made for some great theater – and will have serious policy consequences for years to come.

The 2008 election proved to be exactly what all the pre-election hype suggested it would be: an election of historic proportions that saw a major revamping of the balance of power in the American political system.

As you read this issue of Inside OME, the Democratic Convention is over; the Republican Convention is ending; and the presidential and congressional campaign season is about to launch into a flat-out sprint toward November 4.

The 110th Congress is definitely one of transition. There are numerous resignations, retirements, pursuit of other offices (including President), untimely deaths and other reasons for this period of flux.
