Bailout Bill Extends Tuition Deduction
On October 3, Congress gave final legislative approval to and the President signed into law the so-called “bailout bill” for financial institutions. The bill provided an extension of the above-the-line deduction for qualified tuition and related expenses.  Read more

Congress Punts Funding Issues into 2009
Faced with an appropriations stalemate, a distressed economy, and a looming general election, Congress decided in late September to delay the finalization of funding issues until next year, long after the new President is sworn in.  Read more
