AACOM President Stephen C. Shannon, DO, MPH, and other AACOM staff met with Josephine Briggs, MD, Director of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) of the National Institutes of Health, to build upon AACOM’s relationship with NCCAM and foster increased collaboration.

The 2008 election proved to be exactly what all the pre-election hype suggested it would be: an election of historic proportions that saw a major revamping of the balance of power in the American political system.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, the National Cancer Institute and the Office of Dietary Supplements announced the availability of grants to conduct basic, mechanistic and/or preclinical research on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) areas of special interest.

AACOM signed a letter to House and Senate leadership, urging that the $30.38 billion level approved earlier this year by the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) be added to the FY 2009 CR.
