AACOM's Role in the Nation's Capital

One of AACOM’s top strategic goals is to serve as the central coordinating, policy-setting, communication and advocacy organization for AACOM’s member colleges and associated osteopathic medical education programs.

AACOM's Office of Government Relations informs Congress and federal policymakers of developments in the osteopathic medical education profession, and seeks to sensitize policymakers to the needs of osteopathic medical students and educators. AACOM works in concert with various national coalitions to influence both legislative and regulatory activities associated with medical education and related issues; to represent the needs of its members before Congress, federal agencies, and other policy-making bodies; and to promote understanding of policy-related medical education issues in the nation’s capital and beyond.
