Twelve Tips for Authoring On-Line Distance Learning

The authors develop the following tips for authoring on-line distance learning programs and includes a valuable list of resources in this regard:

  • Fail to prepare, prepare to fail
  • Follow the 'Plan, Do, Check, Act' cycle
  • Train the trainers
  • Clearly match the materials to the learning outcomes
  • Design high quality online materials for web-based delivery
  • Put the learner first and motivate them
  • Less is more
  • First impressions count in arousing interest and motivation to learn
  • Keep it simple for students
  • Under-promise, over-deliver
  • Assessment matters
  • Quality counts
